They can direct an IRA distribution to St. Sahag Armenian Church (EIN 41-1990221) with no federal income tax liability. With an IRA charitable rollover distribution—also known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)—such clients can make a gift during their lifetime from an asset that would be subject to multiple levels of taxation if it remained in their taxable estate. To count as a QCD, the distribution check must be issued directly to the charity, not to the account owner.
