GREAT LENT  ՄԵԾ ՊԱՀՔ

Lent is a season of prayer and penance set apart by the Church to prepare us for Easter and to recall Our Lord’s fast in desert (Matthew 4:1-11, Luke 4:1-13).

This season of preparation and sanctification can be fittingly accomplished through voluntary amendment of life, acts of penance, and works of charity. Lent is a time to learn to love our souls more than our bodies.

Thus, every Christian should make a special effort to practice mortification and strive for holiness during Great Lent.

DO NOT LET THIS TIME TO GROW IN HOLINESS PASS BY YOU!

A Time to Rediscover God, Through Prayer

Daily Prayer Rule for Great Lent

During this Great Lent, the faithful are invited to join together in prayer during these trying times. The Diocese has provided a ten-minute daily prayer rule, in English or Armenian, as a way for our faithful to join together in prayer as the Body of the Christ.

MESSAGE BY BISHOP DANIEL

Great Lent is a season to rediscover God through prayer, says Bishop Daniel Findikyan in a new video message. He calls on the faithful of the Eastern Diocese to rediscover the source of divine hope that has brought inner strength to generations of Armenian Christians.

The Diocesan Primate reminds us that Lent has always been a time for inner reflection and conversion. But this particular year holds special meaning for the Armenian people, who have endured a time of great suffering, injustice, and loss.
